The authors explain that a “collaborative economy” is characterised by offering a new model of socioeconomic relationships between individuals, with the aim of exchanging goods and services which were previously underused. This is achieved through IT and Communications service networks, and is facilitated by an intermediary digital platform that operates via a mobile application.

They point out that the expected ban on the use of digital platforms that form part of this collaborative economy, as in Uber’s case, is unconstitutional.
