On the 8th of May, 2019, in the case “Alberotti, Roque y otros c/ Gobierno Departamental de Montevideo – Acción de inconstitucionalidad- Decreto de la Junta Departamental de Montevideo Nº 36.197 de fecha 15 de diciembre de 2016”, the Court explained the differences between the service provided by vehicles operating under digital platforms and taxi activity. It stated that the legislator may regulate them differently, and such regulation does not violate the principle of equality.
