On March 30, 2016, the legal requirements for using the Uber app in Spain were established by law. 

The supreme court defends the “freedom of enterprise” after annulling the obligation imposed by the Executive, by which each service had to be contracted 30 minutes in advance, and the prohibition that vehicles could be geolocated by its customers, giving the reason to Uber.

A court in Brussels has ruled that the driver was in an “independent employment relationship” and that there is no hierarchical control over the driver by Uber.
